To add chargers, you must have at least one Location in your dashboard.
You can add and organize new chargers directly from the Chargers page within your dashboard. To add chargers, click the Add chargers button near the top right of the main Chargers page.
Follow the steps on the pop-up, ensuring to add all the requested information. The pop-up starts with shared details that will apply to all of the chargers you are adding (model, location, installer), then asks for charger-specific details:
- Manufacturer (required): The manufacturer of the charger you are installing.
- Model (required): The model of charger you are installing. It is important that the model accurately matches the charger you are installing, otherwise you may encounter some unexpected behaviour. If you do not see your model, please contact your charger distributor.
- Location (required): Select the Location you are deploying your charger. If there are no locations, follow the Add location instructions found on Site host dashboard: Admin
- Pricing rule: This rule will default to the Default rule. You may keep it on default, or select another rule. This may be changed in the Pricing rules tab at any time.
-
Network connectivity: Select the method of network connectivity you will be using on your charger. If you are deploying multiple chargers with varying connection types, select varies by charger.
- SIM card: If you select SIM card, note if the SIM card in the charger has been provided by your vendor. You may also indicate the network provider of your SIM card.
- Wi-fi: If your charger is wi-fi enabled, you may indicate the network name and password that the charger is on.
- Map visibility: If this is checked on, the charger(s) will appear on public maps, such as Google Maps, and will be publicly viewable. If you do not want your charger viewable by others, toggle this off.
- Driver message: Add a message here with any information you would like to communicate to drivers, such as directions or other information.
- Internal note: Use this field if you need to note something down about this charger, or communicate information about the charger to other Company members.
- Installer: If you choose, you may note down the installer of your charger.
- Installation date: If you choose, you may note down the installation date of your charger.
- Installer contact: If you choose, you may note down the contact information of your charger installer.
When the required information has been entered, select Next. You will be prompted to add specific details about your charger(s):
- Number of chargers (required): Indicate the number of chargers of that specific model that you are installing. Note: If you are installing multiple chargers, but they are different models, you will need to complete the previous step for the other model(s).
- Serial number (required): The serial number is a long string of letters and numbers, typically printed on the side or back of the charger.
- OCPP ID (required): The OCPP ID is the ID with which a charger communicates with the network.
- Display ID (required): The charger’s display is a name or short series of letters and numbers, typically printed on a sticker or wrap on the front of the charger. This Display ID will allow you to find your charger on the web app.
- Unit #: If this charger is associated with a specific unit in a multi-residential building, indicate that unit number here.
- Parking Space #: If this charger is associated with a specific parking space, indicate that parking space number here.
- SIM card number: If you know the SIM card number of the SIM card in your charger, enter this here. Noting this number down will help you troubleshoot if you encounter network connectivity.
When the required information has been entered, you will be prompted to either click Continue to next charger if you are installing more than one charger, or Save if you have selected only one.
Immediately after chargers have been added to your dashboard they will have a “Coming Soon” status. Once connection is detected from chargers with serial numbers and OCPP IDs that match the chargers you added, the deployment status of chargers will automatically update to “Deployed”.
Important note: Adding chargers in your site host dashboard only prepares the back-end software to connect your new EV chargers; it does not configure anything on the hardware side. Every OCPP EV charger has a unique set of configuration steps that must also be completed as part of a deployment.
